Water Features

A water feature prices by its plumbing and its structure, not by its size. A self-contained fountain set on existing hardscape near an outlet is a straightforward install. A built-in water wall or a natural stone waterfall involves a basin, a pump vault, an autofill line, electrical, and waterproofing, and each of those is its own trade. Recirculating designs cost more up front and far less to run, which is the only sensible approach in this climate.

Modern recirculating fountains use minimal water, typically 1-2 gallons per week to replace evaporation losses. This is far less than maintaining lawn. Some homeowners collect and reuse AC condensate (20-30 gallons daily in summer) to replenish water features, making them essentially water-neutral.

Hard water causes mineral buildup that affects appearance and pump function. Solutions include regular cleaning, treatment additives, and installing small water softeners for larger features. We design features with accessible pumps and easy cleaning in mind. Quality pumps handle hard water better than cheap alternatives.

Weekly tasks include checking water levels and removing debris. Monthly maintenance involves cleaning pumps, checking for algae, and adding treatment chemicals. Seasonal deep cleaning keeps features looking great. We offer maintenance packages for clients who prefer hands-off enjoyment.

Moving water doesn't attract mosquitoes. They need still water to breed. All our features include pumps that keep water circulating. For ponds and larger features, we recommend mosquito-eating fish or dunks that prevent larvae. Proper feature design eliminates mosquito concerns.
